Lou is a 4-year-old Boxer who came to us from the Camarillo animal shelter, as an owner surrender, along with his younger brother Hank. While the boys do well independently, together they are an especially charming, goofy pair for anyone considering opening their home to two Boxers instead of one.
Since arriving at BRLA, Lou has shown himself to be an affectionate dog who enjoys both people and some other dogs. He can become very eager when meeting dogs he is interested in and at times struggles with impulse control during those initial interactions. However, Lou has shown a more submissive demeanor with stronger canine personalities.
Lou enjoys staying active and being involved in whatever his people are doing. He benefits from routine, continued guidance, and opportunities to channel his energy in positive ways. With consistency and engagement, he will continue to mature into a well-balanced companion.
Because Lou can be enthusiastic and physically exuberant, we believe he would be best suited for a home with older teenagers or adults rather than young children. An adopter familiar with large-breed dogs and comfortable providing structure and leadership will help Lou thrive. Overall, Lou is a sweet, goofy boy with a loving nature and plenty of Boxer personality to share with the lucky home that welcomes him.
