Bean is just about a year old and the sweetest little latch key kid. She came in with a pair of very nice Boxers (likely her parents) that were all being looked after by the owner's friend. But after 7 months of being baby sat their owner never came back. He changed his number and their dog sitter was moving. While in their temporary (7 months) home they just hung out in the yard, were not walked but had attention and mostly they had each other. All three came to BRLA. The pair was adopted leaving Bean without her original touchstones. But she is coming along on her own. Bean feels safest around other dogs. Think about it, she was just 3-4 months old when her owner left them with dog sitter so she literally had her formative years never getting out in the world. It's still a bit scary for Bean, but she tries her little heart out to become comfortable. It doesn't take long before she is all smiles. But her new home will have to be patient and encouraging. She walks best with another nice dog along. She can be intimidated by dogs with too much energy or reactivity. Bean will do best with a kind male dog in her home as her mentor. Inside our facility and house, she feels most at ease and enjoys affection from us all. Bean is ready to join that special home that suits her best.
