Rudy Roo is a 3 to 4 year old deaf Boxer boy. Once he feels safe he can be a sweet boy. But he has struggled with fear insecurity which could result in reactivity which could lead to unwanted contact. We call it Stranger Danger. It can take some time for him to accept new people and dogs. Once you are in - you are in for life. Rudy has made great strides at BRLA (thanks to some calming meds as well) and he loves pack walks with lots of dogs and many volunteers. He can still become reactive on walks or in our kennel to some people. He has been working hard to gain confidence and balance and we know there is someone who will be his everything. He can be so good.
A home with a calm assertive leader, that does not have a lifestyle that is stimulating, and a very consistent routine is what Rudy needs. Since he can be suspect of new people, be prepared to come an visit him a number of times over a period of time. Slow and steady is what Rudy Roo needs. He has made many BRLA Boxer friends so another dog in the home could be an asset over time but it will take a very experienced person and very balanced dog. Rudy Roo is a special boy that needs a very special home that has experience working with challenging dogs.
