Maple is almost a year old and the day he stepped foot into BRLA, his life as a dog started. He came to us as and owner surrender and a total life virgin, afraid of everything due to lack of exposure to the world. You would not have known that he has a natural tail as it was always tightly tucked away in fear. He was not abused, they just neglected to provide him with the opportunity to socialize and become comfortable in life. He has always enjoyed other dogs.
Maple has made great progress with our team of volunteers and BRLA Boxers. In fact he is now a volunteer favorite! We are confident he will continue to grow in all ways day by day. He will need a home that understands the commitment of training and time it will take to build his confidence and show him the world. A home with patient and persistent humans, along with another dog in the home to serve as his emotional support animal will help Maple bloom. It it such a treat to see him find joy in life, it's the small things like getting love and pets from people. He is amazing with other dogs and is now very playful.
He enjoys going for walks, especially with another dog along and we see him starting to be curious. Loud noises may still scare him and there is more work to be done. The goal is to replace any caution with curiosity. He is getting there! What a joy to watch this precious soul open up and start to enjoy himself. As he was intended to for the rest of his life with his natural tail flying high!
