Lena is about 3-4 years old and is a big but quieter Boxer girl. We pulled her from the Long Beach animal shelter. AC picked her up where she had been left tied up in direct sun for at least an hour causing mild hyperthermia. The shelter was able to cool her down and hydrate her which avoided heat stroke. She did fine in their off leash dog to dog tests.
At BRLA she is more independent, do my own thing kind of girl. She absolutely loves human attention and has the Boxer lean into you down pat. She can walk with other dogs and be in public around other dogs but does not seek their company or attention. She looks to have been a backyard dog without a lot of exposure to the outside world or other dogs. We just might be taking her on her first walks. She is always ready to go but needs some leash manners. The signs of an outside life are present with some concrete burns, rough coat and calluses on her backside. Lena is now ready for a cushy home where she receives all the comforts she has yet to enjoy in life. She is mild mannered yet wiggly. She can be around dogs but does not like them in her face so perhaps allowing Lena to be the only dog in the home is best to start. We see her opening up more and more every day she is inside, loved and getting to go for walks. She will benefit from basic training, but the girl has sit under control. She is yet to get excited about toys which may be a new thing to her but we know she will blossom in the right home.
