Koah was brought home as a puppy. The home included 2 kids and a small dog. Koah was too rambunctious for the small dog but she did well with the kids. A bit too high energy at times but she's a puppy. Due to dad's military career and having 2 kids in the home, one with special needs, Koah was not getting the time or attention she needed. She did not get daily walks, or engage in life much outside the home. We are working on building her confidence and getting her out in the world and she is doing great.. She was not allowed access to the small dog in the home, but at BRLA we have her engaging with many dogs and she is doing well. She didn't have much previous experience meeting new dogs but under our guidance she has learned to be more open and trusting. And she is a lot of fun. She is learning to be more curious rather than cautious. Koah is a small girl, she weighs 42 pounds. She is small but mighty.
Koah's lack of exposure and life experience will require a special home that is committed to training and building confidence. She is a very willing student but really needs leadership and consistency to be her best self. She slept in a crate and was somewhat housetrained. It could be best for her to go home as the only pet so she can gain confidence and build her social interaction skills with other dogs. Or perhaps a wonderful mentor male dog might work. She is ready to live her best life. In the right hands this little hummingbird of a Boxer can become a delightful and trusted family member.
