Charlie can be the perfect dog at home but having had no outside experience he will need a very experienced and very confident owner to help build his confidence outside the home to prevent defensive reactivity. Charlie joined his family as a puppy. He was bought off Craigslist and lived with two other dogs. He got along with the dogs he lived with. He was mostly an outside dog, not walked or socialized outside much. From lack of exposure he developed deep insecurities which show as reactivity to others both canine and human. Charlie is under a year old and his family didn't have the fund to hire a trainer. They surrendered him to BRLA to find him the right home to help him. The behaviors that Charlie exhibits (negative reaction to dogs and strangers) could be remedied by an experience Boxer owner with good confidence and excellent training abilities. He has never been given the chance to see there is good outside in the world. He needs the right person to bring him out of the dark and into the light of a loving home. Charlie is ready to be rescued from his life without opportunity. While at BRLA Charlie grew in leaps and bounds. He became comfortable in our environment and around other rescue Boxers. The process is slow and when he goes home the process starts again. In a home Charlie is housebroken, crate trained and a very happy boy. He needs a home that will expand his happiness and confidence to the outside world in careful measured steps.
Charlie was adopted and even worked with a trainer but unfortunately this home underestimated their ability to work with a potentially reactive dog. He was returned to find that calm environment with someone who has the time and talent to take him step by step to a more balanced life. Charlie deserves nothing less!
