Andy was adopted as a youngster and at that home developed some unwanted behaviors. Not everyone can be the right leader for every dog so Andy came back to BRLA with those unwanted behaviors of being reactive to dog out in the world.
Andy is now a senior, and his sharp edges have softened a little. Our team has been working with Andy and he now is not only more tolerant in public he has been able to get to know a few other BRLA Boxers up close and personally. He is still Andy and likes to act tough at first. But deep down he is a softy that just wants love and a sunny spot to nap.
He spent some time in a foster home and it was wonderful to see his playful side with another dog. But Andy was not prepared to share all the benefits of home (human attention) with another so he can have friends in the world but would do best as the only dog in the home.
This senior is healthy as a horse with recent bloodwork showing that he is firing on all cylinders. He has bursts of energy but mostly wants attention, some good food, is happy to sleep in a crate and soak up all the human love he has missed out on, being at BRLA for some time. It took Andy some time to settle down and not be so concerned with what happens on the streets or try and control other dogs. He now is just so loving but will still need a strong leader to make sure he stays on the straight and narrow.
Seniors are the most grateful when given a home and love.
