Waylon’s owners got him and his brother as puppies, and together they lived with their 7yo boxer sister. All three received the care and training they needed, but life circumstances changed which led them to land at BRLA in search of new homes.
He is a medium sized, medium energy boy who can be shy and timid when meeting new people. It only takes that first meeting for him to warm up to you. Waylon walks well on leash and knows his basic commands. Though he is typically nonreactive to other dogs out in public from a distance, he can react negatively when interacting directly with them.
The ideal home for Waylon is one where he would be the only dog while he learns to navigate life without his siblings in a quiet and calm environment. Family members who are around more often than not would help him feel safe, as he is still learning how to manage being home alone. Experience with confidence building will help Waylon grow emotionally.
Waylon is ready to break out of his timid shell and become the confident young man we know is in him.
THE BEST HOME FOR WAYLON SHOULD HAVE
Adopted an adult Boxer before
Have time and skills to build confidence in him
Have no other dogs at home or perhaps the most gentle mentor dog
Work from home or stay at home mom to help gradually ease anxiety when alone
