The broadest, and maybe the most meaningful definition of volunteering: Doing more than you have to because you want to, for a cause you consider good.
Volunteer for Boxer Rescue Los Angeles (BRLA)
BRLA maintains two full-time facilities that house, at times, over 65 Boxers. While we do have a small staff that provides the basic care for our Boxers by daily feeding and cleaning, it’s the volunteers who make the difference in lives of the dogs in BRLA’s care.
As you can see by the photos, weekends are exciting times at BRLA. That is when adoptions take place and we have volunteers on hand to help around the kennel, walk dogs, bathe/groom dogs, work on training and give the dogs all the attention they crave and deserve while they wait for a permanent home. This is a welcome break for the BRLA dogs and the interaction with volunteers helps them work on their social skills improving their chances of getting adopted. Plus, it is a lot of fun, a terrific workout and you see the immediate results of your efforts on the faces of the dogs.
Come out and volunteer at BRLA! You are assured to have a great time!
Here is some basic starter information for you to consider in your decision to volunteer with BRLA:

The kennel kennel is open to volunteers on weekends for those who have successfully completed their orientation. BRLA is not open to volunteers Monday - Friday due to the weekday routine of the kennel staff and liability.
New volunteer orientations take place by appointment once a month on Sundays. After your orientation and you feel comfortable - you can come volunteer any weekend during supervised volunteer hours

To help BRLA Boxers have the best manners and stand out to potential adopters we work with them on proper leash manners. We exclusively use The no-pull Freedom Harness to teach good loose leash manners. Take a few minutes to see how this amazing training tool works in the video below: You will be walking like a pro in no time!
The video below does not completely relate to BRLA adoption process but the dog handling information is valuable for your safety and the safety of BRLA Boxers inside our kennel.
