Stella is a young beauty. She has not had the best foundation in life. She was reported to first come from the home of someone who died and she was found in the yard, where she mostly lived. A neighbor found a foster home for Stella where she lived with a male Boxer for a month. She then went home with a family with kids who Stella did very well with. She is housebroken and non-destructive when home alone where she had indoor outdoor access. Stella started getting protective of her new family out on walks when she saw other dogs. She has had positive experience with dogs in the past but was now feeling insecure and reactive. Her current family realized that they do not have the confidence and Boxer experience to help Stella regain balance in life. She got along with some of the dog sitters pack so she has some social skills that need to be reinforced and secured. Stella seems to be more confident when inside 4 walls. Even at BRLA she can get close to dogs inside the kennel but outside she loses her confidence and can be reactive. It's all fear and insecurity. She needs someone to be in charge.
Stella needs a calm solid leader in her life; someone with confidence, patients and who knows how to help insecure dogs become confident. Someone who knows how to use the postive in a dog (obedience training) to counter unwanted behavior. With consistency and a good solid routine Stella will find her balance. She is a smart girl. Most off all Stella needs a lifetime commitment.
