Baron was adopted from BRLA in 2016. He had come from the Lancaster shelter and went home with a nice couple. Unfortunately the couple uncoupled and Baron's world was divided. He was with his dad until his dad was evicted. He then went with mom and enjoyed staying with her family member with 5 other dogs. She now has a pet friendly guest house that is too remote for Baron to be happy at home where he cannot "perch" sit and look out the window at the world. This is one of his favorite pastimes. He spent time with a trainer in a pack of 10 dogs and below is what his professional trainer has to say about Baron
Baron is a 7-year old, neutered, male Boxer. He is a social dog with excellent skills. He struggles with reactivity when on lead however displays zero aversion to dogs of all sizes and breeds, when in their company. More training on lead reactivity is recommended. Baron currently resides with 7 dogs of all breed types. He prefers the company of his people most. He is excellent with children of all ages. He would do well in a home with child energy and playfulness. Children age 7 or older is recommended as Baron is a big breed dog with playful tendencies that could knock a toddler over. Baron struggles with separation anxiety as an only dog. However, with the right environment of free roam and yard, Baron should be fine. Optimal would be to place Baron in a home with stay-at-home humans or part time workers. He also benefits with the comfort of dog buddies. Baron has excellent indoor skills. He does not get into mischief, is potty and doggy-door trained. He is dog and will bark when stimulated, however never for unnecessary reasons. He does not beg or whine for food, has excellent basic obedience skills, and will do anything to please. He is not cat or bunny safe. Baron loves to chase a soccer ball and will even bounce like a kangaroo when itís time for a walk. Baron rides excellent in the car and would do well with a family that continues his training and outside social experiences. Baron is a pleasure to be with. He is quite the gentleman.
Baron is not at BRLA. If you would like to meet him please ask in advance so a meeting can be set up at BRLA.
