This is a letter written by our 12 year old daughter. We will bury it with his collar under a memorial stone in our back yard:

My Best Dog:

Dear Rudy,

I really wish you didn't have to go so soon. I love you so much! I
will never stop. When I heard you were gone, I didn't believe it.
Yogi is doing okay but he misses you a lot. Now he can't be left alone! He has to come with us everywhere!

If I had only one wish, I would wish for you to come back. I know you can't, but I would still make that wish.

I got a new Nintendo DS and got a game called Dogs. The first dog I got was a boxer and I named him Rudy. He looks exactly like you! He will be my favorite dog in that game!

Madelyn is doing better now even though she cried for a long time when she heard you died. My dad was really upset so was mom and all our friends. The whole world isn't the same without you.We might get a new dog to keep Yogi company. NOT TO REPLACE YOU.
Nothing can replace you. Oh! I had a dream about you. What does it mean? If you know, come to me in my dream and tell me. Well, thank you for being and good dog and choosing our family to live with for four years. I will never forget you!
