Meet Barney, who desperately needs a foster home as soon as possible. It is hard not to notice the difference between the photos of when Barney arrived and Barney now.

Barney came to us months ago when his family surrendered him to BRLA. He took it hard and was very stressed away from home and in a kennel situation.  The BRLA volunteers and staff take great care with each and every Boxer and Barney received love, walks and good food.  But, sadly there is nothing that replaced the warmth and comfort of life at home.

Barney was moved over to our auxiliary kennel where he had a little more room and a lot fewer Boxers around him.  He seemed to be doing fine, while he waited and competed with the 99 other Boxers up for adoption. 

Suddenly Barney’s skin begins to break out.  It started on his face and spread to his chest.
Barney was breaking out in mange and it came on quick and very severe.  The stress of being in a kennel rather than a home is likely the cause of this sudden horrible outbreak.

His face began to crack and bleed. The mange spread to all four of his feet. Barney is under medical treatment but is extremely uncomfortable. He is sedated daily to prevent him from scratching his face completely off. He looks as miserable as he must feel.

He is a very mellow guy who is a wonderful protector of his home and family. He loves to go for rides in the car, he especially enjoys riding shotgun right next to you. He is quiet in the car and non-destructive when you leave him. He sits and waits like a gentleman but just his size and big head alone would keep any car jacker at bay. Your car and possessions are safe with Barney on board. Most likely you would find Barney catching some Z's in the front seat while you run your errands. You could probably teach him to feed your parking meter! Now that's good car company.

Barney prefers a quiet life without a lot of commotion, chaos and comings and goings. He enjoys the simple things in life; a warm quite home, a nice meal or two, a stroll around the block and someone to share this all with. He prefers to be the only dog in you home and deserves all the attention he can get. He does not ask for much, in fact he does not ask for anything, but we are asking….someone please foster Barney.  This condition will clear up if we can get him into a foster home.

Barney is only about 6 year old; he seems much older now as the light seems to be quickly fading from him.  He needs to get into a foster home to beat this mange and regain his strength and vitality.  Surly there is room in a home out there for this no fuss pup who desperately needs a stress free environment to save face…literally.

Just look at the difference in his entire body language. Barney needs help now to get back to the handsome guy who loves life in the slow lane
